Senator Kamala Harris has condemned President Donald Trump over his plans for mass deportations if elected, calling them a step backward for the nation. Harris emphasized the importance of protecting Dreamers and improving border security while also creating an earned pathway to citizenship. She criticized Trump for tearing families apart and pledged to fight against his extremist policies. In response to the Federal Reserve’s interest rate cut, Harris called it welcome news but stressed the need to continue working to lower costs for American families.
Harris’s campaign also announced her upcoming visit to Georgia to highlight the importance of keeping abortion accessible, following a report of a woman who died after being denied timely medical care due to restrictive abortion bans. The vice-president plans to discuss reproductive freedom and the consequences of Trump’s actions on this issue.
Despite not receiving an endorsement from the Teamsters, Harris continues to appeal to young voters through virtual organizing calls and events. In response to criticism by Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders for not having biological children, Harris’s family members and supporters defended her career-long commitment to working for all families.
A new poll in Georgia shows a tight race between Harris and Trump, with the vice-president holding a narrow lead. In other battleground states like Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Wisconsin, Harris maintains a lead over Trump, with the election just 50 days away. Senator Bernie Sanders has also announced plans to file resolutions to block the sale of offensive US weaponry to Israel, criticizing the country’s actions in Gaza and the use of US-provided military equipment in the conflict.
