Australian Formula 1 driver Daniel Ricciardo was abruptly dismissed by the Red Bull Racing junior team, ending his second stint in the sport in the middle of the season. As an eight-time race winner and a popular figure among American fans, Ricciardo’s future in F1 is uncertain as he currently does not have a seat for the next season. The team announced that reserve driver Liam Lawson will take his place for the remaining races of the 2024 season. Ricciardo thanked his fans and teammates in a farewell message posted on Instagram. The reason for his mid-season departure was not disclosed by the team, but it comes at a time when Red Bull is facing challenges in the championship. Ricciardo, who joined the Red Bull junior team in 2011, is known for his daring overtakes and was once considered a future world champion. After leaving Red Bull in 2018 due to tensions with teammate Max Verstappen, his career took a downturn before rejoining the team in a reserve role in 2023. Despite hopes of returning to form, Ricciardo’s performance did not match expectations. The team’s principal welcomed Lawson as the new driver and expressed excitement for the upcoming races.
