Voters reject election denial and Roe reversal, favor economic plans

A recent national NBC News poll reveals that voters are less likely to support candidates who deny the results of the 2020 election or who back the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade. Instead, voters are more inclined to support candidates who focus on addressing high costs, with policies such as expanding domestic oil and natural gas production, providing a $6,000 federal child tax credit, and taxing large corporations being popular across the political spectrum.

On economic issues, voters are interested in solutions that drive down the cost of living, but are less supportive of tariffs on goods from all countries. However, election denialism is a major turnoff for voters, with a majority expressing less likelihood to support candidates who claim Donald Trump won the 2020 election.

In the race between Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris, both candidates are tied at 48% support among voters. Trump receives higher marks on handling the cost of living and immigration, while Harris has an advantage on abortion, competency, and representing change.

Regarding immigration, voters are more likely to support candidates who deploy the military to the border to stop illegal activities and increase deportations of undocumented immigrants. On the issue of abortion, voters are more supportive of candidates who advocate for a federal law restoring a nationwide right to abortion, while the Supreme Court’s decision overturning Roe v. Wade is largely unpopular.

Overall, voters are focused on the economy, inflation, immigration, and democracy in this election, with policies addressing high costs gaining the most support across the political spectrum.
