Semaj A. Gilmore, a registered sex offender from Camden, New Jersey, has been sentenced to 260 months in prison for sex trafficking three minors for months. Gilmore pleaded guilty to the charges and was sentenced by U.S. Chief District Judge Renée Marie Bumb. In addition to the prison term, Gilmore was also sentenced to 10 years of supervised release.
Between September 2020 and April 2021, Gilmore transported three minor victims from Philadelphia to New Jersey, knowing they would engage in commercial sex acts at his direction. The victims were all under the age of 18 at the time. Gilmore, who had been required to register as a sex offender due to a prior conviction, exploited the minors for his benefit.
The sentencing of Gilmore serves as a reminder of the importance of protecting vulnerable individuals from exploitation and holding perpetrators accountable for their actions. Officials have praised the prosecution of this case as a step towards justice for the victims and a warning to others who engage in similar criminal behavior.
