U.S. Representative Josh Gottheimer’s alleged support for Bruce Springsteen has come under scrutiny by local New Jersey news outlets, questioning the authenticity of his claimed superfan status. Gottheimer, a Democrat running for governor of New Jersey, has repeatedly referenced Springsteen during his campaign and shared a Spotify Wrapped screenshot showing all top tracks as Springsteen hits. However, an opinion piece questioned the authenticity of the screenshot, leading to speculation about whether it was faked to curry favor with Springsteen fans.
Gottheimer responded by stating that the Spotify Wrapped would look different if not for sharing the account with his children and expressed his appreciation for Taylor Swift as well. The iconic rock musician Springsteen has been a favorite of millions for decades, and Gottheimer is running on a platform of “lower taxes, lower costs” in the upcoming gubernatorial election. With Democratic Governor Phil Murphy unable to seek reelection, a number of Democratic candidates, including Gottheimer, have declared their intent to run for the state’s top post.
