President-elect Donald Trump has not ruled out the possibility of a war with Iran during his second term, stating that “anything can happen” in a recent interview with Time magazine. While he did not take war with Iran off the table, Trump indicated that he wants to end the wars between Russia and Ukraine and Israel and Hamas. He criticized Kyiv’s firing of U.S.-made missiles into Russian territory and expressed willingness to use U.S. support for Ukraine as leverage in negotiations with Russia. Trump also stated that he plans to pardon most of the rioters involved in the Jan. 6 Capitol attack within his first hour of office, and is willing to deploy the military to assist in deporting people in the country illegally. While he does not plan to revive the policy of separating families at the U.S.-Mexico border, he has not ruled it out as an option. Additionally, Trump supports preserving the legislative filibuster in the Senate, even if it hinders his agenda. However, he backtracked on his promise to lower grocery prices, stating that it is difficult to bring prices down once they are up. Overall, Trump’s comments in the interview with Time magazine shed light on his plans and policies for his upcoming term in office.
