New Jersey imposes $40K fines on firms for sports betting violations

New Jersey Regulators Fines Sportsbooks and Tech Company for Violations

New Jersey gambling regulators have issued fines totaling $40,000 to two sportsbooks and a tech company for various violations. DraftKings was fined $20,000, while Rush Street Interactive NJ and Kambi were fined $10,000 each.

Rush Street accepted bets on a college basketball game that had already ended, as well as on three Magic City Jai Alai games after the results were known. Kambi, on the other hand, experienced connectivity issues that allowed bets to be accepted on games that had already concluded. Both companies have updated their guidelines and retrained their staff to prevent further incidents.

DraftKings was fined for taking bets on unapproved events such as Russian basketball and unapproved table tennis matches. The company also accepted pre-season NFL bets involving specific players without providing the required information, leading to voided bets and refunds to customers.

The violations highlight the importance of strict regulatory compliance in the gambling industry, as mistakes can lead to significant financial penalties. The companies involved have stated that they are taking steps to rectify the issues and prevent similar incidents in the future.
