An East Brunswick man, Ashraf Tawfik, has been charged with murder after confessing to killing his wife, Marsail Botros. Tawfik walked into the East Brunswick Police Department and admitted to the crime, leading authorities to find Botros unresponsive at their residence. Tawfik has been arrested and charged with first-degree murder, as well as possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and unlawful possession of a weapon. He is currently in custody at the Middlesex County Adult Correctional Center pending a Pre-Trial Detention hearing. The investigation is still ongoing, and anyone with information is urged to contact either the East Brunswick Police Department or the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office. Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone and Chief Frank LoSacco of the East Brunswick Police Department have confirmed the incident. The community is reeling from the tragedy and continues to support the authorities in the investigation.
