Jersey Shore’s State’s Largest St. Patrick’s Day Parade Draws Thousands

The 52nd Belmar-Lake Como St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Monmouth County, New Jersey, kicked off this past weekend with 6,700 people marching in the parade and 17 bagpipe bands performing. The parade is one of five St. Patrick’s Day parades held in New Jersey over the weekends leading up to the holiday on March 17. The parade began at 12:30 p.m. and was the culmination of a three-day celebration in Belmar and Lake Como.

Fran Griffin and Matthew Lee served as the parade’s grand marshals, both having strong connections to their Irish roots. The parade route featured a green line painted on Main Street in honor of Ireland’s color. Bishop David O’Connell led a Catholic Mass at the Church of Saint Rose in Belmar the day before the parade.

The Belmar-Lake Como parade is known as the largest St. Patrick’s Day parade in New Jersey, with more than 30 parades scheduled throughout the state in March. The event drew a large crowd of spectators and participants, showcasing the strong Irish heritage and sense of community in the area.
