Suspicious Fire in Pennsville Township Fueled by Strong Winds in South Jersey

Strong winds fueled a series of wildfires in South Jersey, with one fire in Salem County being investigated as suspicious. The fire near Fort Mott State Park in Pennsville Township burned at least 50 acres, threatening 12 homes before reaching 85% containment. Officials suspect foul play due to the rapid spread caused by the wind.

In Mercer County, a fire near Poor Farm Road in Hopewell Township threatened 30 residential and four commercial structures, growing from 75 to 274 acres before being 80% contained. Another fire in Gloucester Township in Camden County was mostly contained to 40 acres of brush and wooded areas. The cause of this fire is also under investigation.

Dozens of firefighters from multiple agencies worked together to battle the blazes, with no reported injuries or structural damage. The firefighters made significant progress in containing the fires, ensuring the safety of residents in the affected areas.
