Chinese student convicted in British court for drugging and sexually assaulting ten women

Chinese doctoral student Zhenhao Zou, 28, was found guilty in London of drugging and raping 10 women between 2019 and 2023 in England and China, with police warning that there may be over 50 more victims. Zou was convicted of 11 counts of rape, with two victims identified so far. He used hidden cameras to record the attacks as “souvenirs” and kept women’s belongings. Zou claimed the interactions were consensual but will be sentenced on June 19. The judge described him as a “dangerous and predatory sexual offender.” Zou, also known as Pakho, befriended Chinese students on social media before drugging and attacking them. Police thanked the victims who testified against him and are appealing for more potential victims to come forward. The trial raised questions about the quality of the interpreter provided during the initial police interviews. Zou moved from Belfast to London for his studies, and his university expressed support for the survivors who reported the crimes.
