Volvo Construction Equipment (Volvo CE) has partnered with software company Unicontrol to introduce 3D machine control technology in Volvo excavators. The partnership aims to make advanced technology more accessible and easy to use for improved efficiency. The Volvo Co-Pilot will serve as the primary user interface, allowing operators to access Unicontrol3D directly from the Co-Pilot without the need for additional monitors or hardware installations.
Kurt Deleu, head of product management for excavators at Volvo CE, expressed the company’s commitment to making advanced technology open, accessible, and user-friendly. The integration of Unicontrol3D into Dig Assist will provide greater freedom, efficiency, and simplicity for customers on every jobsite. Unicontrol is known for its open, flexible, and cost-efficient solutions in the 3D machine control space, aligning with Volvo CE’s focus on digital innovation and providing customers with the right technology for their needs.
Niels Bjerregaard, CEO at Unicontrol, emphasized the increasing demand for flexible and accessible 3D machine control solutions, stating that the partnership with Volvo CE will set a new standard in the industry by prioritizing efficiency, adaptability, and ease of use. Unlike traditional closed systems, Unicontrol3D is designed to seamlessly integrate with any type of excavator, data format, and workflow, allowing contractors to optimize their mixed fleets without being locked into a single ecosystem. This collaboration is expected to revolutionize the way construction equipment is used on jobsites, offering a more efficient and adaptable solution for customers.
