Minors must be accompanied by an adult at NJ theater for “Minecraft” movie following viral trend incidents

The Township Theatre in Washington Township is cracking down on rules for minors attending the new “Minecraft” movie after a social media trend led to major disruptions. During the movie’s opening night, seats were pulled off the foundation, lotion was spilled on back rows, and popcorn and drinks were thrown.

Owner Laura Rose attributes the mess to a viral trend where moviegoers act out during a fight scene. The theater is now working with police to identify those responsible for the chaos. Rose stated that the disruptive behavior included throwing popcorn, spilling drinks, and creating a disturbance.

To prevent future incidents, the theater has implemented new rules. Minors attending the PG-rated movie must now be accompanied by an adult, and unaccompanied groups of minors will not be admitted. Despite the challenges, the theater will continue to show the movie.

The owners hope that these measures will prevent further disruptions and allow moviegoers to enjoy the film without causing trouble.
