Grammy award-winning artist and entrepreneur will.i.am is making waves in the tech world with his latest venture in artificial intelligence. The frontman of the Black Eyed Peas, known for hits like “I Gotta Feeling” and “Boom Boom Pow,” showcased his new tech company and FYI App at the ASU+GSV Summit in San Diego last week.
The tech-savvy musician, who describes technology as his heart, demonstrated the capabilities of his AI companion through a live demo at the summit. The FYI App, his contribution to computing, has also announced a partnership with Arizona State University called FYI EDU, set to launch this fall. ASU President Dr. Michael Crow praised will.i.am’s innovative approach to infusing spirit into AI technology.
While will.i.am rose to fame as a member of the Black Eyed Peas, his passion for technology and education has led him to give back to communities like Boyle Heights, where he grew up. Through his non-profit, i.am Angel Foundation, he has implemented STEAM and robotics programs in partnership with the LA Unified School District, aiming to empower future entrepreneurs from underserved communities.
With a history of successful business ventures, including his role as a founding equity stakeholder in Beats Electronics, will.i.am is focused on using technology to amplify human potential rather than replace it. At FYI, the goal is to enhance learning and collaboration at the speed of light. As will.i.am puts it, “Tomorrow’s entrepreneurs will come from those communities.”
