Ceiling Collapse at Cranford Theater Leads to Evacuation
CRANFORD, New Jersey — A movie theater in Cranford was evacuated following a ceiling collapse on Wednesday night. Local police and fire departments responded to the incident at the Cranford Theater, located at 25 North Avenue West, around 7:30 p.m.
The incident involved a suspended roof collapsing inside one of the screens. Fortunately, all patrons had evacuated the theater prior to the collapse, as only two presold tickets were sold for that showtime, and the ticket holders did not attend. Thankfully, no injuries were reported.
Authorities have declared the building uninhabitable, and the cause of the collapse is currently under investigation. First responders acted quickly to search the premises, ensuring everyone’s safety.
The theater was operational at the time, raising concerns about structural integrity. Investigators will assess the extent of the damage and determine the next steps. Updates will follow as more information becomes available.
