Body Discovered in Submerged Vehicle in Manalapan
Manalapan, NJ – A tragic discovery was made Saturday when police located the body of 45-year-old Rice Masongo inside a black Ford Focus submerged in a retention pond in the Four Seasons gated community. The vehicle was identified as Masongo’s, who had been living in Keyport, previously in Newark and East Orange.
The car was found after a neighbor alerted authorities to its open trunk visible above the water. Police divers retrieved the vehicle, discovering Masongo’s remains. Preliminary reports suggest that no foul play is suspected, although investigators have not determined how the car ended up in the pond. Masongo was last known to have contacted someone on April 8.
Authorities seek assistance from the public for information regarding Masongo’s whereabouts between April 8 and 26. They are also checking for surveillance footage from the gated community to piece together the timeline. Residents expressed shock, noting they had not seen or heard anything unusual related to the vehicle.
