CHESTERFIELD TOWNSHIP, NJ (BURLINGTON) — May 4, 2025 — A severe multi-vehicle accident occurred on the New Jersey Turnpike just north of Exit 7 around 12:57 p.m., involving two buses and several cars. The incident, which took place near mile post 56.4 on the outer roadway, resulted in multiple injuries, prompting the dispatch of at least 15 ambulances and paramedics from three different counties.

Emergency responders, including multiple fire department units, were on the scene to conduct extrications, notably aiding a driver trapped in one of the buses. Early reports suggested that several individuals may have been struck by vehicles during the chaotic scene.

Initially, a field surgeon from Cooper University Medical Center was requested for assistance but was later canceled as injured individuals were already being transported to hospitals. As investigations continue, the New Jersey State Police have been alerted to gather further details.

Drivers have been advised of significant traffic delays as two of the three lanes have been blocked due to the crash, with ongoing updates expected as more information becomes available.
