Dozens Injured in New Jersey Turnpike Bus Crash

Chesterfield Township, NJ – A collision involving two buses and several cars on the New Jersey Turnpike resulted in injuries to 39 individuals on Sunday, May 4, according to state police. The incident occurred just before 1 p.m. when one Van Hool bus traveling northbound rear-ended another, causing a chain reaction that also involved three cars.

A spokesperson for FlixBus, the company associated with the buses, confirmed that the vehicles were traveling from Arlington, Virginia, to New York City, but noted that all operations are managed by independent partners. They expressed their commitment to assisting affected passengers and cooperating with ongoing investigations.

Emergency responders transported all injured parties to nearby hospitals, where they were treated for minor injuries. Witnesses reported seeing a green passenger bus with significant front-end damage and a shattered windshield at the accident scene, with a tow truck dispatched to clear the wreckage.

The New Jersey State Police are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash. Further updates are anticipated as authorities continue to examine the incident.
