Press Release

Hudson County Democrats for Change Receive Good Government Coalition Endorsement

Hudson County, NJ — The Good Government Coalition of New Jersey (GGCNJ) has officially endorsed three pivotal candidates from the "Democrats for Change" movement for the New Jersey General Assembly in Hudson County: Assemblywoman Barbara McCann Stamato (LD31) and Assemblywoman Jessica Ramirez alongside Councilman Yousef J. Saleh (LD32).

GGCNJ, a well-respected nonpartisan organization dedicated to promoting transparency, accountability, and ethical governance, announced its support based on the candidates’ robust reform records. They also endorsed Steven Fulop for Governor, recognizing his commitment to a modern, open government in New Jersey.

Assemblywoman Stamato, a staunch advocate for open governance, garnered attention for her dissent against the rollback of the Open Public Records Act (OPRA). She also opposed a controversial ballot reform bill criticized for undermining voter choice and transparency. “Voters deserve leadership that prioritizes the public’s right to know over political convenience,” she stated.

Assemblywoman Ramirez, who has experience as a public defender and currently represents victims of sexual assault, echoed Stamato’s commitment. "Every New Jerseyan should have a government that works for them — not behind closed doors," she emphasized.

Joining them, Councilman Saleh presents a progressive approach to affordability and civic engagement in Jersey City. He affirmed, “Trust in government starts with transparency and accountability,” expressing pride in his campaign alongside fellow candidates and Mayor Fulop.

The GGCNJ’s endorsement emphasizes a shared dedication to fostering open, responsible leadership in Trenton. For more information about GGCNJ and its endorsed candidates, visit www.ggcnj.org.
