Rutgers-Camden Scarlet Raptors Crowned NJAC Champions
Camden, N.J. (May 9, 2025) – The Rutgers University-Camden Scarlet Raptors captured their first New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) baseball championship, completing a remarkable tournament run as the sixth seed. With a perfect 4-0 record, they secured the title on Friday by defeating The College of New Jersey (TCNJ) 5-2.
The Scarlet Raptors showcased their resilience throughout the playoffs, overcoming top-seeded teams including Kean, Montclair State, and Rowan before clinching the championship against TCNJ. This victory, marking the program’s inaugural NJAC title, also earns them a spot in the NCAA tournament for only the second time, with the NCAA announcing regional fields on Monday.
Key players included senior Daniel Robeson, who pitched 6.2 innings, and graduate student Jacob Shapley, who earned his fifth save of the season in the final game. Offensively, graduate first baseman Jack Murphy led the charge with three RBIs, while freshman left fielder Ryan Joseph contributed significantly with two runs and two RBIs.
With a final season record of 29-15, the Scarlet Raptors’ historic win has set the stage for their next challenge in the NCAA tournament.
