Jazz Chisholm Jr. Joins Somerset Patriots for Rehab Assignment
SOMERSET, NJ – New York Yankees infielder Jazz Chisholm Jr. is set to make a splash tonight as he joins the Somerset Patriots, the Yankees’ Double-A affiliate, for a game against the Akron Rubber Ducks at 6:35 p.m. Chisholm Jr. was placed on the 10-day injury list on April 30 due to a right oblique strain, but before his injury, he had an explosive start to the 2025 season, smashing seven home runs, scoring 17 runs, driving in 17 RBIs, and stealing six bases over 30 games, despite a .181 batting average.
The Yankees acquired Chisholm Jr. from the Miami Marlins last July 27 as part of a strategic trade that included catcher Agustin Ramirez and prospects Jared Serna and Abraham Ramirez. Chisholm made an immediate impact in New York, becoming the first player in franchise history to hit four homers in his first three games and seven in his first 12.
During the 2024 season, Chisholm Jr. showcased his talent with a combined batting line of .256/.324/.436, including 74 runs, 21 doubles, four triples, and 24 home runs, earning him a spot as one of only four players in the Majors to hit 20 home runs and steal 40 bases. Chisholm Jr.’s career stats include a .245 batting average with 84 home runs and 105 stolen bases over parts of six seasons.
This marks Chisholm Jr.’s first rehab stint in Somerset, making him the sixth Yankee to do so in 2025. The Somerset Patriots are currently standing at 22-24 this season, hosting first-place Akron over the weekend. Meanwhile, the Yankees lead the AL East with a record of 35-20 as they prepare to face the Los Angeles Dodgers in a World Series rematch.
