Press Article: GOP Candidates Unite on Tax Cuts to Make New Jersey More Affordable
As New Jersey approaches its gubernatorial primary on June 10, Republican candidates are rallying around a common goal: cutting taxes to enhance affordability for residents. All five GOP contenders vying to succeed Governor Phil Murphy support varying forms of tax reductions aimed at easing the financial burden on New Jersey families.
State Senator Jon Bramnick advocates a plan to adjust income tax brackets for inflation, slashing taxes for joint filers by around $1,600 and for single filers by $1,000 annually. He also calls for returning excess state aid to school districts to further lower property taxes.
Former Assemblyman Jack Ciattarelli likewise aims to condense income tax brackets and reduce corporate tax rates by 5% over five years, while also proposing to cap property tax rates and significantly cut state spending.
Radio host Bill Spadea’s approach, although vague, emphasizes the need for tax cuts and critiques the spending growth under Murphy. Former Mayor Mario Kranjac aims to reduce property taxes by 2% annually, and contractor Justin Barbera seeks lower tax rates for seniors and those without children.
Together, these candidates illustrate a united front on tax policy, aiming to reshape New Jersey’s economic landscape.
