Tragedy Strikes Jersey City: Officer Falls to His Death
Jersey City, NJ – In a heartbreaking incident, Hudson County Sheriff’s Officer Justin Rivera, 29, fell to his death from the ninth floor of the Hudson County Administrative Building on Friday morning. The tragedy unfolded shortly before 9:30 a.m. while Rivera was on duty with fellow officers.
Authorities reported that Rivera was quickly transported to Jersey City Medical Center, but he was pronounced dead approximately 30 minutes following the fall. Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez stated that the incident appears to be accidental, although the cause of death is pending further investigation.
Witnesses described hearing shattering glass moments before seeing Rivera fall. "I heard glass shatter and then looked up," recalled Steve Roosen, who witnessed the distressing scene. “I saw the officers perform CPR, but then they just stopped.”

Bayonne Mayor Jimmy Davis expressed deep sorrow over the loss, emphasizing Rivera’s role as a protector of the community. Rivera, a Bayonne resident and father who coached boxing at his family’s martial arts studio, will be remembered for his unwavering commitment and spirit in service.
