Water Main Break Disrupts Traffic and Services in Secaucus
Secaucus experienced significant disruption on County Avenue due to a water main break, which caused the road to buckle and water to flood the area. Veolia Water crews are currently working to repair the damaged 8-inch main, but officials estimate that repairs may not be completed until late afternoon.
In response to the situation, Secaucus police have restricted access to County Avenue, blocking traffic from Secaucus Road to Metro Way. Local businesses are feeling the impact, with Kevin Lavelle from Snip N Clip Dog Grooming describing the challenges faced as he navigated around the area to reach work. "I had to go all the way around and hop over the fence due to the road closure, and now there’s no water," he stated, noting he had to reschedule his appointments.
Additionally, the NJ Turnpike Authority reported that the Alexander Hamilton Service Area is closed until water service is restored. Currently, approximately 35 customers are affected by the outage. While the cause of the break remains unclear, Veolia Water is working diligently to address the issue.
