HPQ Silicon Inc. and Pragma Industries Forge Key Partnership for Green Hydrogen Solutions
MONTREAL and LYON, France, June 10, 2025 – HPQ Silicon Inc., along with its partner NOVACIUM SAS, has announced a significant collaboration with Pragma Industries, a French leader in hydrogen solutions. This partnership seeks to promote the commercialization of HPQ’s METAGENE™ green hydrogen production system in response to surging demand in the green energy market.
The METAGENE™ technology, developed by NOVACIUM, allows for the safe and efficient production of hydrogen without traditional power requirements and bulky infrastructure. It generates hydrogen using an aluminum-silicon alloy, producing up to 1.25 cubic meters of hydrogen per kilo of fuel, making it ideal for light mobility solutions such as hydrogen-powered bicycles.
Pierre Forté, CEO of Pragma Industries, emphasized the advantages of integrating METAGENE™ into their offerings, stating, "This technology represents a breakthrough in decentralized hydrogen production, allowing us to meet last-mile transport needs sustainably and cost-effectively." The technology is also relevant for Pragma’s involvement in the MANGABHY project, aimed at developing specialized fuel cells for drones.
The strategic partnership includes plans for a pilot phase slated for late 2025 to early 2026, targeting a hydrogen production capacity of 10 kg per day for use in fleets of vehicles and drones. Notably, the METAGENE™ system’s autonomy eliminates conventional energy dependencies, encouraging innovative deployment models in various sectors.
