Beloved Jersey Shore Restaurant Set to Close
This summer marks the last season for the renowned Chef Mike’s ABG in Seaside Park. The popular restaurant, famously known for its creamy crab bisque and grilled lamb chops, will close its doors later this year. Chef and owner Mike Jurusz announced the closure via social media, revealing that the property has been sold to a developer planning to construct 12 custom homes on the site.
Jurusz expressed surprise at the sale, noting that the property had been on the market for five years without much interest. "We were convinced we’d be here forever," he said. Despite the imminent closure, Jurusz is optimistic about relocating and maintaining the restaurant’s legacy in the area, stating that he aims to find a new spot before the end of the year.
Over his 40 years in the restaurant industry, Jurusz has focused on finding a venue that fits his vision, ideally away from the seasonal cycle of the Jersey Shore. He has a dedicated staff ready to transition to the new location. Chef Mike’s ABG, originally established as Atlantic Bar & Grill in the late ’90s, has been repeatedly celebrated as one of Ocean County’s finest dining options, leaving an indelible mark in the community.
