Jersey Scottish FC Disappointed by New Home Bid Rejection
In a significant setback, Jersey Scottish FC has expressed disappointment after its proposal to relocate to Les Creux was not shortlisted by the Government of Jersey. The club, which provides training for boys and girls aged five to 15, had submitted a "once-in-a-lifetime" bid to transform the site into a community hub and sporting venue, but the request was declined.
Lead coach James Scott highlighted the importance of the move from their current location at Haute Vallee, stating that the existing rent is "not sustainable." He emphasized that Les Creux offers facilities capable of housing a full-sized pitch and a clubhouse, which could serve as a "game changer" for the club’s future. Scott noted that the proposal had garnered support from various sectors, including charities, schools, and parents, all advocating for a space that would benefit not only the club but the larger community.
"If we don’t find a place that we can call home, we simply will not be able to take any more children on due to the financial costs we currently have to keep the club afloat," Scott warned. The club is now urging the government to reconsider their proposal, expressing a strong desire to present their case to the decision-making panel.
The government has yet to respond to the club’s concerns, but Jersey Scottish FC remains hopeful about finding a viable solution.
