Suspect in Custody After Carjacking Incident Involving Uber Driver in North Arlington
North Arlington, NJ – June 15, 2025 – An alarming incident unfolded in New Jersey on Saturday evening when a suspect allegedly attempted to carjack an Uber driver’s vehicle. The situation escalated around 5 p.m. in Kearny when the Uber driver reported seeing his passenger loading a gun in the backseat. The firearm discharged, narrowly missing the driver, who quickly fled the car.
The armed suspect then took control of the vehicle and drove off. Law enforcement officials located the suspect soon after on Porete Avenue in North Arlington. In escalating circumstances, officers shot the suspect, who was subsequently transported to the hospital and has since been discharged.
The suspect remains in police custody as investigators work to piece together the events surrounding the incident. Authorities are urging anyone with additional information to come forward.
