Users on WhatsApp will soon have the ability to scan QR codes to join channels, as per Technology News.

WhatsApp is currently testing a new feature that allows users to scan QR codes to view and join channels on the platform. This feature is aimed at making it easier for users to discover and follow new channels. The functionality is currently available for those on the latest WhatsApp beta for both Android and iOS. Users can scan the QR code using their phone’s camera to redirect to the channel and join if interested.

To access the QR code for a channel, users will need to navigate to the channel, tap on the three vertical dot button, and head to the share menu to generate and display the QR code. This new method of sharing channels is more convenient than traditional methods, especially when the person you want to join is present.

This feature can be particularly useful for business owners who can print the QR code on business cards, posters, and flyers. However, it is unclear when the functionality will be rolled out to the stable channel, so users may have to wait before accessing it on their devices. WhatsApp has been rolling out several new functionalities recently, such as transcribing voice messages and adding custom messages when forwarding text, images, or links.
