New Jersey man with connections to Joe Burrow burglary arrested in fencing operation

Two men, Dimitriy Nezhinskiy and Juan Villar, were arrested and charged with conspiracy to receive stolen property related to their involvement in a string of burglaries across the U.S. They were believed to be acting as “fences” for South American-based crime groups targeting luxury items. Nezhinskiy was linked to a crew involved in the burglary of a high-profile athlete’s home in Ohio, believed to be Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow. Authorities seized stolen property, cash, and marijuana during a search of a pawn shop operated by the suspects, as well as luxury goods from a storage facility in New Jersey linked to Nezhinskiy.

The arrests came following the arrest of four Chilean nationals connected to the burglary at Burrow’s home on Dec. 9, 2024. Burrow expressed feeling violated and struggling with the lack of privacy as a public figure, emphasizing the challenges of living a public life. The suspects were found with tools believed to be used by the South American Theft Group during the burglary.

The incident shed light on the vulnerability of public figures like Burrows to targeted thefts and the importance of security measures. The arrests of Nezhinskiy and Villar serve as a reminder of the ongoing efforts to combat organized crime activities across state lines. Authorities continue to investigate the extent of their involvement and whether additional individuals were part of the criminal network.
