Helicopter tour company suspends flights following fatal crash in Hudson River


The Federal Aviation Administration has grounded New York Helicopter Charter, the company that operated the sightseeing tour that crashed into the Hudson River last week, killing all six people on board. The FAA issued the emergency order after the company’s director of operations was fired. The Bell 206 helicopter crashed at 3:17 p.m. on Thursday, killing Siemens executive Agustín Escobar, his wife, their three children, and pilot Sean Johnson. New York Helicopter Charter had voluntarily stopped flights after the crash. The FAA is conducting an investigation into the company’s operations, including a review under the Certificate Holder Evaluation Program.
