Josh Gottheimer Employs AI in Anti-Trump Advertisement for New Jersey Governor’s Race

Gottheimer Kicks Off Governor’s Race with AI-Driven TV Ad Targeting Trump

Democratic Representative Josh Gottheimer has launched his first TV ad in the New Jersey governor’s race, positioning himself as a staunch opponent of former President Donald Trump. Utilizing artificial intelligence for a unique twist, the ad features Gottheimer depicted as a boxer sparring with Trump, underscoring his readiness to take on the political heavyweight.

The ad, shared first with NBC News, emphasizes Gottheimer’s longstanding commitment to fighting for the citizens of New Jersey. "He’s a born fighter. Josh Gottheimer’s been fighting for people all his life," proclaims the narrator against a backdrop of boxing imagery and a disclaimer noting the use of AI-generated visuals.

Highlighting his experience working under Presidents Bill Clinton and Barack Obama, the ad boasts of Gottheimer’s advocacy for Medicare, Social Security, infrastructure, and gun safety legislation. The visual metaphor of a boxing match conveys his determination to fight against Trump’s tariffs and policies impacting New Jersey families. "As governor, I’ll cut property taxes by 15%, cut taxes for seniors, and lower costs," he asserts directly to the camera.

Gottheimer’s campaign has backed the ad with a multimillion-dollar advertising budget, reflecting the escalating stakes in a crowded Democratic primary slated for June 10. Alongside Gottheimer, notable candidates include Rep. Mikie Sherrill, Newark Mayor Ras Baraka, and Jersey City Mayor Steve Fulop, as the ad-tracking firm AdImpact reports over $36 million already spent on the race.

With competitive gubernatorial contests in New Jersey and Virginia this year, Gottheimer aims to leverage both his political experience and innovative ad strategies to win the support of undecided voters, amid growing tensions within the Democratic field.
