Al Jazeera Media Network has vowed to continue its coverage of Israeli attacks on Palestinians in Gaza and the occupied West Bank despite a recent raid on its office in Ramallah. Israeli occupation forces ordered the immediate closure of the office in the early hours of Sunday morning, following a decision by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s cabinet to shut down Al Jazeera’s operations within Israel in May 2024.
The Network strongly condemns this action, labeling it a criminal act and an affront to press freedom and journalism principles. Despite the seizure of equipment and attempts to stifle its voice, Al Jazeera remains committed to reporting the truth with integrity, even in dangerous circumstances.
Israel’s suppression of the free press is seen as an effort to conceal its actions in Gaza and the West Bank, with direct targeting and killing of journalists. Al Jazeera calls on organizations advocating for media freedom and human rights to condemn these attacks and demand accountability.
The Network holds Netanyahu’s government responsible for the safety of its journalists and will seek legal channels through international institutions to protect its rights.
