Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan condemned the United Nations for its inaction on Gaza and accused Israel of turning the territory into a “children’s and women’s cemetery.” Erdogan criticized Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for dragging the region deeper into war and called for a ceasefire and humanitarian aid in Gaza. Other regional leaders also spoke out against Israel’s actions, with Jordan’s King Abdullah ruling out forced displacement of Palestinians and calling for a relief effort. Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim also denounced Israel’s actions in Gaza as genocide.
Erdogan also expressed support for Lebanon, where Israel has launched attacks targeting Hezbollah. He criticized the UN Security Council for not intervening to stop the violence in Gaza and Lebanon, calling out countries supporting Israel and accusing the Israeli government of ethnic cleansing and genocide. Erdogan urged the international community to take action to prevent further bloodshed and uphold human rights.
The Turkish president highlighted the UN’s failure to fulfill its mission of global stability, peace, and justice, and criticized the organization for becoming dysfunctional. He called for a united effort to stop the violence in Gaza and Lebanon and emphasized the need for the international community to act against Israel’s actions. Erdogan’s strong words at the UN General Assembly underscore Turkey’s stance on the conflict in the Middle East and its commitment to advocating for Palestinian rights and ending the violence in the region.
