Mount St. Mary’s baseball team suffered a 6-4 loss to Rider in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference series, bringing their MAAC play record to 7-8 and overall record to 13-17. Nolan Book scored the first run for the Mountaineers in the first inning, but Rider took the lead with four runs in the second and third innings. Mount St. Mary’s tried to rally in the ninth with runs from Sam Grube and Evan Smith, but it wasn’t enough to overcome Rider’s lead. Grube, Flaugher, Smith, and Zeppieri all had hits in the game, with Grube also driving in three RBIs. Pitcher Jakob Foster took the loss with a record of 1-1. The team will now face the United States Naval Academy next on April 9 in Annapolis, Maryland at 3:00 p.m. Despite the recent loss, the Mountaineers will be looking to bounce back and improve their conference standing.
