Governor Murphy Leads Economic Mission to Saudi Arabia
Riyadh, Saudi Arabia – Governor Phil Murphy and the New Jersey delegation, including First Lady Tammy Murphy, are in Riyadh for a six-day economic mission aimed at fostering partnerships in technology, AI, gaming, and various industries. This initiative, organized by Choose New Jersey, focuses on strengthening bilateral investment and trade relations.
The mission commenced with a press roundtable featuring local and international journalists, where Governor Murphy addressed key topics related to business and trade. Notably, he signed a Letter of Intent with King Saud University, marking a significant collaboration with Rutgers University to enhance research in public policy and urban planning.
During a business roundtable with Abdallah S. Jum’ah, Saudi Co-Chairman of the U.S.-Saudi Business Council, Governor Murphy emphasized the advantages for Saudi companies to expand into New Jersey. The delegation also visited Diriyah, the historical home of the Saudi royal family, fostering cultural exchanges and highlighting New Jersey’s diverse identity.
Further engagements included meetings with the Saudi Exports Development Authority and Princess Nourah Bint Abdulrahman University, exploring opportunities for academic partnerships and investment. Additionally, discussions with the Vice Minister of Sport centered on collaboration for the upcoming FIFA events and esports initiatives, signaling New Jersey’s commitment to global sporting cooperation.
